Calls have intensified in Jerusalem for mobilization and vigilance on Friday, urging people to head to the nearest points of contact with the Al-Aqsa Mosque and perform prayers there, in affirmation of their rejection of the occupation’s measures and attempts to impose a new reality in the holy city.
The Jerusalemite calls emphasized that the mobilization and steadfastness at this stage represent the first line of defense for Al-Aqsa Mosque, and a clear message that the Palestinian people will not allow the passing of plans for division or Judaization, no matter how great the challenges.
The city of Jerusalem is witnessing one of its most sensitive and dangerous phases these days, in light of the continued closure of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by decision of the occupation authorities, amid international silence and Arab and Islamic inaction that weighs heavily on the scene and increases the burden of the challenges facing the Jerusalemites.
This escalation comes amid continued incitement by extremist settler groups, who recently released AI-produced videos depicting alleged scenes of “sacrifices” being offered inside the Al-Aqsa compound.
Observers believe that what is happening today reflects a dangerous shift compared to what Jerusalem witnessed in 2021, when Jerusalemites rose up and were supported by the resistance in Gaza in defense of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
Today, the city faces harsher conditions as the aggression against Gaza continues and the targeting expands throughout Palestine.
In light of these developments, all eyes remain on Friday, when a popular movement is expected to reflect the Palestinians’ adherence to their right to Al-Aqsa, and their determination to thwart all attempts to impose a new reality in the holy city.
